Today

It is already August 1 on the opposite side of the earth. It is my parents’ forty-eighth wedding anniversary which my mom has to spend without dad for the first time in her life. Sad as it is, I know it is extremely hard for mom as well as for my sister and brother who have been taking care of mom on the daily basis. We purposely sent mom to Sizhou in mid April to be with our aunties as dad’s birthday approached. We are unable to do the same this time…the weather is too hot in Sizhou and mom insists on staying in Beijing to be closer to dad.
