My interview with Lisa the cat
Interviewer: Bob
Translator: Piano-finger
Interviewee: Lisa the cat
Bob: Hi, Lisa! This is Bob, a reporter from the Cats Weekly magazine. Can I ask you a few questions?
Lisa: Yeah, sure, I guess. But make it quick. My dinner is in a few minutes.
Bob: Ok… Well, first tell us a bit about yourself, Lisa.
Lisa: Well, I am a five-month old kitty. I was born in the Humane Society, and I lived there for 2 months. Then, I was adopted by a nice family, who has been taking care of me ever since.
Bob: How was life in the Humane Society?
Lisa: It was horrible. I lived in a tiny glass cage with 2 other cats, Comet and Delilah. My name back then was Dinah. Isn’t that just horrible, the name Dinah!
Bob: It sure is!
Lisa: Anyway, there was only one bed and one bowl food one bowl water, plus a couple of toys. I am not a very mean or strong kitty, and I like my manners, but that Comet was not, and he always took the bed from me. I had to sleep in a corner, while he slept on the bed. Plus, Comet was older than me, bigger, and crazier. I hated him! He was too rowdy and too crazy.
Bob: So, can you describe the day you were adopted?
Lisa: Sure. I was sleeping in my corner when my family came. I did not see them at first, but I heard them talking. They went along, looking at all the cats, until they got to our cage. Comet became excited and began pacing around. I just opened one eye. I saw a nice-looking woman, a happy-looking teenager, and a scared-looking man. Then, the people at the shelter let us out and we were put into a small room with the family. For some weird reason, it was only Comet and I. Comet jumped out and began attacking everything in the room, including the humans. He even scratched one of them. I however, am not a cat like that. I sat in the cat-carrier and did not come out. Then, I felt two hands pick me up, and I was put on the lap of the person I now know as Piano-finger. He was very warm, and I immediately fell asleep. Next thing I know, I’m in their house.
Bob: Wow. A pretty good turn of events, isn’t it?
Lisa: I would say so. My life got a whole lot better after I was in the house. There was no one to chase me, and I had it all for myself. My owners changed my name to Lisa, which obviously sounds better than Dinah. Mom, Dad, and Piano-finger, as I learned to call them, are really nice to me. They let me use their laps as beds, and their hands as food bowls.
Bob: So, Lisa, I imagine you have a lot of free time on your paws. What do you like to do in your free time?
Lisa: Well, I love to look out the windows. There is always so much going on outside that I am missing out on! Birds, squirrels, even deer: it’s all so exciting! In my free time, I also like to play with Piano-finger. I bite him on the leg, and then he yells “OW!” and chases me. It’s really funny!
Bob: So, you really like the outside, don’t you? Do ever go outside?
Lisa: No. My owners don’t let me!! Every time there’s an open door or window, I try to zoom through it, but they always close it before I can get through. Someday, I will escape and go outside!
Bob: So, who do you like most out of your three owners?
Lisa: Well, I don’t have a clear favorite. Dad is really cool because he gives me a lot of tasty treats. I call him the Treat Man. Piano-finger is my friend because he plays with me all the time and Mom feeds me and cleans my litter box. Piano-finger used to clean my litter box; I guess he quit.
Bob: Thanks, Lisa, for your time!
Lisa: No problem! Wait, do I get paid for this?
Bob: Not really…
Lisa: Aw……
