治疗糖尿病的 胰岛素 方面的研究和成果  起始与1920年代。

50年代后期和60年代前期 人工成功合成完整有生物活性的 牛胰岛素（能治疗人的糖尿病。此前 是利用猪 牛的 胰腺的 直接的 胰岛素提取纯化 小批量生成），中国科学家 经过艰难的钻研和实验 最先取得这一划时代的成果。化学 和 生物化学技术。

1976年 美国lilly 药厂 率先实行了 利用 细菌复制 胰岛素的 甲/A  或 乙/B 链，再 生化组合成 AB/甲乙 2链完整的 全  人胰岛素，开创了大批量生成 人用胰岛素。 DNA recombination 技术。
