Guess what I saw

I was walking the dog late at night
standing 15 feet from the trash cans
near our mail box
heard some noises
but did not quite get where they came from
All of sudden the trash can lid was popped open
a sleek raccoon was staring at me
then slipped off the 4 feet tall trash can
and ran away
Fluffy did not bark
but tried to chase the raccoon before I stopped her
but she sniffed and sniffed along the escape route
Didn't see how it could get into the trash can
which appears nothing to hang on to
I could not imagine what if I opened the lid
whether the raccoon would attack me or fluffy
they have pretty sharp front paws
