It has been for five years
stalks of purple flowers of my hosta were nibbled clean every summer,
but not those of my neighbor's hosta by some deer
This year, the deer came early to nibble some fruit trees in the spring
then perhaps one week earlier to eat half of the stalks with flowers
and leave one flower left on each stalk she ate
A few stalks must just grow out and barely blossom
and somewhat escaped the feast
But who knows
Maybe deer was saving the best for last
My neighbor got some collateral damage too
all the lilies and other flower buds were eaten
they sometimes see the deer during the daylight
not does it matter for the deer though
as if the deer knows most of human are harmless
even spoiling them
with garden full of new leaves and flower buds
