Hopeless Romantic
Garth Step by step Catch that breeze The Shadow in the sunlight beneath the trees They dance with me They've got no knees They slowly fading As the clouds proceed To dampen me But I'm amazed The sound it makes 'till the grounds erased The pattern of the chatterin' Against my face On wet roof tops it could take all day the ants are scattering but the cars don't stop the People move hurriedly They leave the raindrops Behind in their mind keeping up with thoughts The rollercoaster ride speeding on the spot
The traffic lights are one size fits all But some snowflakes melt when they slow to a stall And some leaves don't change colors in the fall, And some hibernate and some don't sleep at all
The rain is beautiful in its own way Indifferent to me Getting on my way Skipping stones on the surface today But the stone in my heart become a poem to play But it fits like old shoes need new laces it fits like scars it fits like crooked tooth faces it fits like emptiness in a world of excess it fits like recess where people get no rest
