The world's most expensive residential apartments at One Hyde Park have been officially put on the auction block by property duo the Candy brothers. Nick and Christian Candy claim to have sold over 55 of the 86 luxury apartment properties. On the opening ceremony around 5,000 gold balloons were released from the roof at the Knightsbridge development, which overlooks Hyde Park in London. One Hyde Park residential costs 6.5 million pounds (S$13.3 million) for a one-bedroom apartment and go up to 140 million pounds (S$287 million) for a penthouse. The prices, averaging about 6,000 pounds (S$12,000) a square foot are the highest ever paid for residential space. According to the Daily Telegraph, the buildings have shared features including a cinema, a 21 million pound (S$43 million) swimming pool, saunas, a gym, a golf simulator and a wine cellar. There are eye scanners in the lifts and panic rooms for added security. -The Korea Herald/Asia News Network |
