If something is the best, what do you call it? Amazing? Fantastic? Fantabulous? The greatest? Wonderful? Some people call the best the bee's knees.
The phrase "the bee's knees" has nothing to do with actual bees'knees. At least, I don't think it does. Next time you're with a bee, check its knees. Are they wonderful and amazing?
Some people think that the phrase comes from an Italian way of saying " the business" ( the BEEZ-NEES).
Other weird ways of saying something is the best is " the cat's whiskers" and my favourite, " the kipper's knickers" . UGGH.
