Temple of Kukulcan. Built before AD 800, it is the Maya calendar in stone. There are 364 steps plus a platform to equal the 365 days of a year, 52 panels on each side representing the 52 year cycle of Maya calendar round, and nine terraced levels on either side of the stairways that total the 18 months of the Maya solar calendar.
The pyramid's design also reflects the equinoxes and solstices of our solar year with light and shadow. During the equinoxes, the setting sun casts a shadow of a serpent on the northern steps of the pyramid. During spring equinox (approximately March21), the serpent seems to be slithering down the stairs, while in the fall (September 21) it reverses and climbs the pyramid.

The skulls of  winner team's leader were carved into the stone.

3)Del-Rey
