After Mont Saint Michel, we were supposed to return our rental car to Rennes. Driving to Rennes was easy, the hard part was finding the car return place near the train station. Soon after entering the city, we got lost in traffic and one-way streets. Not knowing exactly where we were, we started driving toward the city center where the train station is located and got pretty close to it. Dave managed to ask directions from a local who spoke very little English (and we spoke no French). Finally we found the train station and the car return place. What a pain it was! Now thinking back, we probably should return the car at Pontorson (the nearest train station to Mont Saint Michel), and take a train back to Rennes instead of driving.
Rennes doesn't offer much for sightseeing. While I was working, Dave looked around Rennes' historic center.
1. Traditional timber framed houses.
2. Rennes Cathedral.
3. Opera house.
4. City hall.
5. Parliament of Brittany, now is Rennes Court of Appeal.
6. Police towed away a car parked in a handicap spot.
