Breakfast At Golden Griddle

For J, my dearest son and me, it is our routine to have breakfast at the Golden Griddle down the street in the weekend.
J normally would just order a kids combo, like dollar pancake, or chicken nugget, and for myself, a cup of coffee with toast is good enough.
It is true that we can have this kind of food almost everywhere in the city, but we still go back to this place almost every weekend.

Why? You are right, it is not only because of the food, it is mainly because of the people, the feeling.
Every time before we leave for the breakfast, J will carefully pick up four small treats for himself and the waiters/waitress in the restaurant, candies, chocolate.. the best treats in a kid's eyes.
Once we walk into the restaurant, J will eagerly look for his friends, D, S and Ms.D, call their names, greet them happily, and hand over the special treats to them.
And of course, they all know my little sweet heart's name, and say "Good morning" to him with big smile.
Although we only have a simple breakfast, we are always served very properly. On top of that, every one will stop by at our desk, have a little chat with us, especially with my little one, about his "girl friends", his school, his game, his holiday..
They also always make sure that my little one has something to be busy with, drawing, coloring, or word searching, so that I can enjoy my morning coffee.
They often take one step further, offer my little one a scoop of ice cream, or make some extra copies of my little one’s favorite word search game, or let him pick up a small toy on our way out,..
These small friendly gestures often touch my heart, and take us a long way.
I really start enjoying our breakfast at Golden Griddle, and I truly believe that my little one shares the same thought.
I am so happy that both J and myself receive so much warm-hearted welcome here. I am pretty sure that my little one can truly feel in his little heart that in this world, there are places other than home, there are people other than his family members can warm him up.

When we started our breakfast here a few months ago, I did not expect any of these at all. But now, look at what we get!
It is like one of my friends always says, "no expectations, everything will come along your way." It is so true in this case.

And I hope years from now I can say that breakfast at Golden Griddle is our family tradition!
