Two days ago, a friend of mine sent me four emails just asking me to give her a call.
I was so worried if anything wrong with her that I called her right away.
She sounded very disturbed, but luckily everything was fine with her, which made me feel relieved.
“Did you read today’s newspaper?” She asked me.
“No. Any news?”
“There was a car accident in the morning and two youths killed.”
“Ok. And then?” I was still very puzzled, did not understand why she brought this up.
“Can you access the internet now?”
“Yes.”
“Go to the newspapers web site.” She told me and guided me browsing through the web site to read local news.
It was the news about a car accident in the north west end of the GTA area and I realized that the father of one of the victims has the same name as our friend S.
Now I kind of understood why she wanted to talk to me. She worried that our friend S’s family involved in this fatal accident.
I was so touched by her warm-heart, although I did not think the accident was related to our friend S, since S lives in the east end of the GTA while the victim’s family resides at the west end.
I explained to her what I was thinking, trying to calm her down. Meanwhile, in order to ensure that she could have a good night sleep, I offered to call S and find out if everything was ok. Of course I promised to her that I would not bring up this car accident to S if everything were fine with S and his family.
Thank God that everything turned out ok with S and his family.
Both my friend and me felt so relieved and we could have some sound sleep.
S would never know all these worries two of us had in this winter night. But this is what a friend for, thinking of you from time to time, and really wishing the best for you.
By the way, three of us have different ethic backgrounds, different religions, different skin colors, different mother tongues, different genders, and different personalities.
But the warmth, the care we offer to each other is always the same.
