本集是著名指挥莱纳的又一项指挥传奇，亦为Living Stereo这个持续热卖的发烧系列中的最新及最重要的出版录音之一。在LP时代便被评为超级发烧片，更名列TAS发烧唱片榜上，威力十足，令人真正听出耳油。
专辑收录两位俄国作曲家的作品：神秘感十足的里姆斯基一科萨科夫[天方夜谭]以及斯特拉文斯基[夜莺之歌]。[天方夜谭]取材自阿拉伯民间故事[一千零一夜]，充满独特的异国浪漫情调。创作于一九一四年的[夜莺之歌]，使作曲者由自己的歌剧[夜莺]钟取材而做，而原来的歌剧则是根据安徒生的童话而作，当时斯特拉文斯基还是里姆斯基一科萨科夫的学生。两首作品同时收录，不但具有师徒传承的历史意义，对于音乐家的风格之演进变化，也提供了一些线索。
原籍匈牙利的指挥莱纳，一生创造了许多的传奇发烧录音，尤其是自一九五三年被聘为芝加哥交响乐团的指挥后，使他将乐团训练为世界一流的乐团，正好此时适逢立体声录音发展之际，就在他的带领之下，完成了许多令音响迷咋舌的发烧录音，而这些录音绝对不只是音响发烧，在诠释方面当然也绝对发烧。如今这些当年的精彩录音，能够再度出版，自然是乐迷欢欣无比的大事。
