耐寒多年生植物 - Lady's-mantle

Lady's-mantle
(Alchemilla)

Take a look at lady's-mantle after a light rain. Its velvety, lily pad-like leaves hold the raindrops like translucent pearls. Lady's-mantle is easy to grow and puts up plumes of feathery chartreuse flowers that can make the most common flowers seem glamorous. It is a natural companion, self-effacing but never dull. Its subtle colors and soft, mounding habit lend a sense of cohesion, softening strident attetion-seekers while coaxing shy beauties out into the limelight. Lady's-mantle responds well to shearing and doesn't mind some shade (its leaves may burn if it's planted in a dry, hot, sunny location). The flowers are long lasting, may rebloom if deadheaded, and look good even after they've lost their vibrant lime green color.

PEAK SEASON
Late spring to early summer; foliage is attractive spring through fall.

GARDEN COMPANIONS

Plant with
  • penstmon and Siberian irises
  • astibes in light shade
  • late-spring bulbs
  • masses of hardy geraniums and dianthus
WHERE

Choose a site in partial shade with well-drained, rich soil. A spot with morning sun and afternoon shad is ideal. Lady's-mantle can be grown in full sun if you can provide a constantly moist soil. Place in the front of a border, along paths, or in woodland gardens. Mass plantings make an effective ground cover.
