Synelnykove Ukraine is in darkness.Over the weekend, the Russian Federation targeted substations that supply power to the Khmelnytsky and Rivne nuclear power plants, leaving millions of consumers without electricity.Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha noted, these were not random, but well-planned attacks.
The pervasive sense of impunity within the Kremlins leadership has had devastating effects on a country already ravaged by twelve years of war, four of which have been large-scale.The conflict has escalated so much in the past 10 monthsthatmore Ukrainians are starting to believe that the Pilate-like stance of many leaders, mainly that of the White House, has effectively given Russian terrorism free rein.

Its hard to interpretattacks on nuclear power plants that are clearly meant to threaten Europes securityin any other way. Especially when they are carried out by those who illegally occupy and use Europes largest nuclear power plant as a shield, from which they hide behind and launch devastating attacks like those on Ukraine in recent hours. These areterrorist acts in every sense, yet being left with no concrete response.
This explains why the Governing Council of the International Atomic Energy Agency needs to be urgently convened, as requested by Ukraine after its Enerhodar nuclear power plant was once again connected to backup power supplies by Russian militias holding it hostage, and after the Khmelnytsky and Rivne power plants had to reduce their energy output due to the indirect attacks they suffered.

Power surges are so frequent and widespread that they pose a threat to the safety of medical devices, digital services, and traffic flow. Blinding flashes from streetlights suddenly cause blackouts, leading to serious inconvenience, especially for drivers in the eastern parts of the country, where dusk starts around 4 p.m. These intense voltage fluctuations also disrupt water supplies, prompting cities like Kremenchuk to implement time-based water schedules: three hours in the morning from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. (or 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. on holidays) and three in the evening from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Recently, as part of an attack on the Koriukiv district, the Russian Federation targeted one of Ukraines largest biomass thermal power plants in Chernihiv. It was less than ten years old, but, as its name Clear Energy implies, it quickly became a standard for Ukrainian cogeneration plants dedicated to achieving energy independence, primarily through local resources, which have grown elevenfold since 2015.

Ukraine responded by attacking the TEC-1 thermoelectric power plant in Voronezh, the largest supplier of heat for residential and industrial users in that city, leaving more than 200,000 Russians without power. This shows how systematic attacks on energy infrastructure have become a new reality in this war. Small-scale actions have turned into a deliberate campaign, worsened by ongoing Russian strikes on Ukraines civilian infrastructure. These are also acts of terrorism. Like the one Idocumentedlive Saturday morning in Dnipro, after a Russian Geran drone crashed into the facade of an apartment building in the Sobornyi Raion residential district. This caused three deaths, 13 injuries, and 28 others (including five children) who were rescued from the rubble of their homes in that neighborhood, which is part of Ukraines third-largest city. Before dawn, Moscow had launched another 457 identical UAVs across the rest of the country, along with 25 Iskander-M ballistic missiles, 10 Iskander-K cruise missiles, three Kalibr missiles, seven Kinzhal hypersonic aeroballistic missiles, and nine other types.
Five hundred and three missiles in a single night, which, had they fallen on any other European city, would have triggered World War III, but which face no concrete response from the international community because they were directed against Ukraine. The images I capturedimmediately after that brutal attack leave a void even darker than the chasm opened in the facade of a building. And where is my mother? a little girl pulled from the rubble asked the police who saved her. In its innocent spontaneity, its a question that should be asked by those who, in absentia, are plunging Ukraine into darkness through their indolence.

me, reporting for this article from Synelnykove, Ukraine ????????- copyrighted photo

Through our crowdfunding campaign, we aim to purchase and install drone detection devices on each of our vehicles to protect against drone attacks in hot zones.Anti-drone РЕБ devices have proven effective against traditional wireless drones, but are completely ineffective against those connected via fiber-optic cables. We are launching this new campaign to ensure that none of those devices will hit us when we approach the frontlines where we write our articles.Your support will not only protect us but also the civilians and defenders within the devices range.
