Governance Structure of SWIFT:

1. Owned by Members SWIFT is a cooperative owned by more than 11,000 banks and financial institutions from over 200 countries.

2. Board of Directors A Board of Directors oversees SWIFTs operations. It consists of 25 independent directors who represent different financial institutions globally.

3. National Bank Oversight SWIFT is overseen by the National Bank of Belgium (NBB) in cooperation with G10 central banks, including:

   • The U.S. Federal Reserve

   • The European Central Bank (ECB)

   • The Bank of England

   • The Bank of Japan

   • The Bank of Canada

   • And others
