1. cocky - adj. used to describe a young person who is confident in a way that is unpleasant and sometimes rude; (年轻人) 狂妄自负的；趾高气扬的；骄傲的; 比较口语化

 

arrogant : 也是贬义，指过高估计自己，以致骄傲自大或傲慢无礼，目中无人。a cocky person would be more boastful,

an arrogant person might just give off a sense of thinking they are superior.

 

2. approve of sth.  - to have a good opinion of something; 赞成, 同意…

approve of sb. - 满意，喜欢 (某人)

               

budget for sth.- … 的预算；注意不要用介词of; budget for sth.

The company has drawn up a budget for the coming fiscal year.

 

3. for no reason - 无缘无故, 毫无理由、无端, 莫名其妙

for a reason – 不是无缘无故的，是有原因的，

 

4. Make sth clear - To make something easier to understand; 使… 让人清楚，明白

open bar -a bar at a reception that serves drinks that’ve been paid by the host; Free drinks (American English) (主办方已经付过费的) 免费酒水吧

7. rumors flying (going) around – 谣言满天飞

 

8. Tab – 账单 = bill or check

Tab (tabulation制成表格；清单显示) - 不是一次的消费，好多的消费小账单的总和。

do Separate checks -分开结帐, 分别买单

Split the check / bill -平均分摊费用
