上海滩, 未了情, River and Waves, A Long Yi Production

In the TV Drama, Shanghai Bund, 許文强(Male) and 方艳文(female) are student leaders. The government arrested 許文强 and sentenced him in jail for 4 years. 方艳文ran away to Shanghai and eventually became a high class escort.

許文强, out of jail visited 方艳文 and asked for help. She is no longer the pure innocent girl, but she offered him to meet a local gangster to get a job. In no time, he overthrown his gang boss and started to rise fast with a few poor kids on the street.

許文强 and 方艳文cannot be lovers, but there was a heart to heart serious affection to each other. Eventually, 許文强dated the gang boss’s daughter 馮程程。Gang fight was non-stop.

Eventually, 許文强 wanted to leave and run away to Hong Kong. 馮程程’s father Gang boss sent someone to destroy his family in Hong Kong and killed them. 許文强returned to Shanghai to take revenge and killed 馮程程’s father.

Another gang boss 聶仁皇wanted to kill 許文强. 許文强wanted to shoot 聶仁皇 and told 方艳文 that he will run away with 馮程程 to France. 方艳文was heart-broken.

One night, 聶仁皇was shot by 許文强’s second man 丁力. 聶仁皇killed 方艳文. 許文强went crazy and was also shot on the street. Both 許文强 and 方艳文 died that night. This is the end of the TV Drama in Chapter 25.

My song 上海灘, 未了情 is written to describe the heart to heart forbidden love between 許文强 and 方艳文. I think that should be the ending theme song of the story written in 1980. On that note, I drafted the English song.
