so at the end of the day everyone's safe please continue your normal life and know that the men and women in law enforcement will put their life at risk to keep you safe and that's what happened they killed two innocent women last night in their homes they tried to kill a lot of Law Enforcement Officers last night and were unsuccessful and we took them all in custody okay

one more question Sheriff if I could um I think everybody understands the gravity of what happened and the urgency and the response that you took some of the comments that you made last night about uh shooting uh the suspects possibly and the comments today about the ready for a gunfight was that In the Heat of the Moment do you have any regret about that in why

no I don't know I I not only have no regret I'm pretty excited about telling you that's exactly what would have happened and make no mistake about it there's nothing about politically correct in a gunfight there's nothing about politically correct when you're keeping people alive and well and safe and the people of this community and these Law
Enforcement Officers come first I meant every word of it then and I mean every word of it now if you surrender peacefully that's the way we prefer it you start pointing guns at us you can not only plan on but you can guarantee we're going to shoot you.

 @maxwellsmart4422 we have very strict gun laws here and not many people have guns, it's very doubtful that the law would support us if we did stand out ground, amazing how two countries who have so much in common are so different in many ways  We also don't really get a vote on who police's our areas, maybe we should vote on it more!  :-)

 @traceythomson5617  I totally agree.also the sheriff is voted in by the people but the police chief which is the equivalent to your police commissioner is appointed by a public an official like the mayor.also the sheriff has more responsibility i.e patrol the streets,maintain the courts,maintain jail etc which the police is more towards just patrol

Likewise in the UK. We thankfully have a minimal gun problem (I’m not complacent), but have a spiralling murder with knives problem! Very difficult to control I’m aware, but the punishment for all murders need to be almost medieval to get through to those committing these crimes. In the UK we spend too much time focusing on the criminals and so little time caring for the victims, because they, the accused create journo headlines and pointless questions like in this film.
Victims and families 1st, 2nd and 3rd priorities. Criminals, hard labour a’ la the chain gangs etc etc.
