Gucci Resurrects Hair Trend Favorited By 'Lizzie McGuire'
Alessandro Michele's highly-praised Gucci collections have evoked comparisons to the bohemian '70s and distant, dreamy dystopian worlds where gender is fluid and peacocks are taken on subway joy rides.
His fall collection brings all this and more. And by more, we mean Lizzie McGuire-era crimped hair flashbacks.
An array of muted, "no-makeup makeup" paired with oversize specs (which are looking to become a Michele signature) were paired with various equally "undone" hairstyles: loose waves, wild and natural curls and shaggy fall-where-it-may mops. And then there was the crimping.

The creative director sent a center-parted crimped 'do topped with a red silk head scarf down the runway, as well as an edgy, crimped twist on pigtails that definitely gave the style once favorited by '00s babes like Carmen Electra, Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera a modern edge.
But it's not just Michele that's trying to bring back the tween style du jour which ruled the red carpets in the early aughts. VFiles opted for crimped styles at their fall 2015 show last year, adding the playful look to some more street style-worthy ensembles.
Stella McCartney, too, tried the trend back in 2014 during her spring 2015 presentation, but chose to keep the crimp a bit more subtle by tucking it into low ponytails. However, we're sure that if there's anyone in fashion can resurrect the style, it's Michele — at this point, it seems everything he touches turns to gold.
