Officiants announced for Swedish royal wedding
In a statement published on the Royal Court website, it was announced that the royal wedding will be officiated by the King’s chaplain Lars-Göran Lönnermark and Pastor Michael Bjerkhagen.
Both clergymen also officiated at the wedding of Princess Madeleine and Christopher O’Neill, who married on June 8th, 2013.
The wedding is set to take place on June 13th in the Royal Chapel where Princess Madeleine and O’Neill tied the knot two years ago.
King Carl XVI Gustaf, crown Princess Victoria, Prince Carl-Philip, Princess Madeleine and Princess Estelle were also baptized in the Royal Chapel.
Speaking at a press conference following the announcement of the couple’s engagement, Prince Carl-Phillip said: "I have the incredible honour of being engaged to this fantastic girl.”
When asked what made her fall for the prince, Hellqvist responded: "Carl Philip is the most humble person I have ever met, which is what made me fall in the beginning," she explained. Hellqvist described the proposal as "a fantastic surprise".
"I expected a totally normal day at work. I was amazed and a little bit shocked."
Hellqvist, a former fashion model who famously participated in the scandalous TV series Paradise Hotel, has dated the Swedish prince since January 2010.
The couple met in 2009 at a club on Stureplan in Stockholm. They have lived together on the Stockholm island of Djurgården since 2011.
Speaking to The Local previously, Roger Lundgren, a royal expert and editor of Kungliga Magazine, described the couple’s relationship as "a Cinderella story".
"This is a couple who had to fight for love and acceptance," he told The Local.
"Some people have had their own negative ideas about Sofia because she was on Paradise Hotel hundreds of years ago, but I can tell you she is a wonderful, wonderful person."
"She works a lot with orphanages in South Africa. She's really sweet."
