Leading ladies who lunch! Julianne Moore and Reese Witherspoon make a stylish entrance at daytime Oscar nominee event
There's a certain stamina needed throughout awards season - that requires actors to look their best at all times of the day.
Which is why Reese Witherspoon and Julianne Moore got dressed up to the nines for a lunch time event on Monday - the 87th Annual Academy Awards Nominee Luncheon, held at The Beverly Hilton Hotel.
The leading ladies - both vying for an Oscar this year in the Best Actress category - led the glamorous red-carpet arrivals at the star-studded daytime event.
Witherspoon, 38, looked stunning in a monochrome cocktail dress and matching strappy heels.
Meanwhile Moore, 54, matched the red carpet in a knee-length rouge ensemble.
Best Supporting Actress nominee Patricia Arquette, 46, looked stylish in a fitted white outfit, while Best Actress nominee Marion Cotillard, 39, went for an odd choice of dress, which appeared to feature a print of an avocado.
Emma Stone - nominated for Best Supporting Actress for Birdman - proved her fashionista status in a shiny striped top and polka-dot dress.
The Academy Awards won't happen until the end of the month on 22 February, but there's plenty of swish events for the nominees to attend ahead of the big night.
The Theory Of Everything stars Eddie Redmayne and Felicity Jones also attended, who have been nominated for their roles.
Redmayne is a hot favourite to win in the Best Actor category, but has to beat fellow favourite Michael Keaton for his role in Birdman.
The host of the night Neil Patrick Harris, was also in attendance at the luncheon on Monday in a smart suit.
Harris stars in Gone Girl, which has received several Oscar nods, including a Best Actress nominee for Rosamund Pike.
The pair shared a very shocking sex scene in the David Fincher movie, which will perhaps provide Harris with a funny line or two on the night.
Harris takes over from the tried and tested talents of Ellen DeGeneres, who last year provided the highlight of getting A-list stars to pose for the ultimate selfie.
Inside the event, Boyhood director Richard Linklater was seen posing the movie's breakout star Ellar Coltrane.
Although Coltrane, 20, has not been nominated for an Academy Awards, he has won widespread acclaim for his central role in the drama.
The movie is up for top prizes such as Best Picture and Best Director, as well as the Best Supportive Actress nod for Arquette.
