Sorry ladies, Stephanie Roche's knockout couture dress isn't for sale

The 25-year-old may have lost out in the competition for the goal of the year at the glitzy FIFA Puskas Award ceremony in Zurich, but she certainly won in the style stakes.

Her eye-catching pink dress was custom made by Irish designer Helen Cody, who said that she won't be replicating the couture look, in spite of international demand.

Helen, whose work is regularly seen on the Irish red carpet and dressed Amy Huberman for last year's IFTAs

Speaking to Independent.ie, she said: "Lots of designers manufacture, but I work with one talented woman, and we work in studio. To me, that's the 'Stephanie dress', last year at the IFTAs, it was the 'Amy dress'."

"I probably won't make another one. It's very much part of the collection and there's lots of feathers in the collection.

"It's my favourite thing to meet a client, think of them, and think what would work. I love working with people, with clients. I love making them happy so that something is perfect for them

"Stephanie's dress was for her, it was tailored for her, and those legs!"

Cody was initially approached by the Football Association of Ireland about the prospect of dressing Stephanie for the much-hyped event and knew from day one that would be the frock for her.

"The FAI rang me and asked me would I dress her, I didn't know her at all, I thought it would be lovely to be involved in," she explained.

"I had been working on the pink dress as part of the new collection and when she tried it on, it was clearly the dress.

"She's a gorgeous girl, she's so unassuming, she's a total professional and something like this must be very unnerving."

Cody, an award-winning couturier praised Stephanie's grace at last night's event, where she narrowly lost out to Colombian James Rodriguez for his spectacular World Cup volley in Brazil last summer.

"I let the dresses do the talking and It's a lovely story to tell. She's made history and if she does nothing else in her life, she'll have made history with this," Helen added.

Her entire look was put together by stylist Laura Mullett, who began working with Roche two weeks ago.

"I am Stephanie's new stylist for the past two weeks, Helen Cody did a magnificent job before I cam on the scene. I think it's a real wow factor dress and I'm delighted to see Stephanie flying the flag for Irish fashion," she told us.
