You have to sit and wait for a good entry. How long you usually sit depends on your trading time frame, could be hours, days, weeks or months. A good entry improves your winning odd substantially.
To realize good profit, again you have to sit tight. "Let the profit run". Here, you need to manage your expectation. There's no universal rule when to take profit.
That said, the two classic remaining issues are: cut loss, and position size. Each itself is a good skill to hone.
A mature trader/investor can repeat his winning consistently, and should have a peaceful mind.
