LOS ANGELES -- Dee Gordon had four hits, including a triple that was misplayed into four bases by left fielder Charlie Blackmon, and Hyun-Jin Ryu pitched six strong innings to help the Los Angeles Dodgers beat Colorado 6-1 on Monday night and snap the Rockies season-best five-game winning streak. Michael Kors Outlet . Ryu (8-3) allowed a run and three hits in six innings and struck out six in his 13th start. In his first 13 starts last season -- his first in the major leagues -- the left-hander was 8-5 with a 2.85 ERA. This was the ninth time this year that Ryu has allowed fewer than three earned runs, and he is 7-0 in those games. Matt Kemp drove in two runs for Los Angeles, while Hanley Ramirez, A.J. Ellis and Yasiel Puig had RBI singles. Ryu and four relievers retired 16 of the final 17 Colorado batters after Wilin Rosarios two-out homer in the fourth. Tyler Matzek (1-1) allowed three runs and 10 hits through five innings in his second big league start and did not strike out a batter, five days after giving up two runs over seven innings and fanning seven in an 8-2 victory over Atlanta at Coors Field. The Dodgers opened the scoring in the third, as Gordon circled the bases on a ball that Blackmon had trouble picking up twice in the corner. First, he stumbled while bending down for it against the lower fence in foul ground and had to chase it back into fair territory -- where he missed on his second attempt to grab it. By the time Blackmon relayed it back to the infield, it was way too late to get Gordon, who was credited with his major league-leading seventh triple. Kemp singled home a run later that inning and doubled home a run on the sixth. He started in the cleanup spot for the fifth time this season, and the Dodgers have won every time. Regular cleanup hitter Adrian Gonzalez got the night off while Scott Van Slyke played first base. Gordon, who leads the majors with 36 stolen bases, was thrown out for the sixth time -- by Rosario in the first inning. The Rockies 22-year-old catcher trimmed the Dodgers lead to 2-1 in the fourth with his seventh homer, driving an 0-2 pitch into the pavilion in left field with two outs. But Ellis got that run back in the fifth with just his second RBI of an injury-plagued season in which the Dodgers No.1 catcher missed 34 games because of knee surgery and sat out another 18 with a sprained right ankle. Ellis two singles raised his average from .196 to .222. NOTES: A moment of silence was observed for Hall of Famer Tony Gwynn, who died Monday at age 54. Gwynns brother Chris and son Tony both played for the Dodgers. "He was just a genius with the bat," Dodgers Hall of Fame broadcaster Vin Scully said. ... Perhaps the biggest of Gwynns 140 career hits at Dodger Stadium came on Sept. 28, 1996, when his tiebreaking two-run single in the eighth inning off Mark Guthrie helped clinched a post-season berth for the Padres. The following day, brother Chris hit a two-run double in the 11th as a pinch-hitter to help the Padres win 2-0 and wrap up the NL West title. ... Forget about RHP Chad Billingsley rejoining the Dodgers roster before the end of the season. He has a torn flexor tendon in his right elbow, which will require surgery next Tuesday. Billingsley hasnt pitched in a major league game since April 15, 2013, nine days before he underwent Tommy John surgery. ... The Rockies optioned struggling RHP Juan Nicasio to Triple-A Colorado Springs and promoted OF-1B Kyle Parker from the Sky Sox. Parker, selected in the first round of the 2010 draft, made his big league debut in the eighth inning as a pinch-hitter and struck out. Michael Kors Outlet Store .com and The Detroit Free Press. SALT LAKE CITY -- When Dirk Nowitzki was shipped to Dallas in a surprise trade before his rookie season, it seemed like a major gamble for a franchise that had endured a stretch of several rough seasons. That little deal worked out in a big way for the Mavericks. Nowitzki had 21 points Tuesday night to pass Oscar Robertson for 10th on the NBAs career scoring list, leading the Mavs to a 95-83 victory over the Utah Jazz. Dallas (48-31) shot 56 per cent from the field and had six players score in double figures en route to recording a fifth consecutive victory. Monta Ellis scored 16 points and reserve Vince Carter added 13 for the Mavericks to help them complete the series sweep of Utah. The 35-year-old Nowitzki went 9 for 11 from the field in Dallas fifth straight win. The 7-footer now has 26,714 career points, four more than Robertson. "It feels kind of surreal, still," Nowitzki said. "All night, I was trying not to think about it. I was trying to concentrate on the next shot. I knew how many points I needed, but I wasnt trying to think about it. I was just trying to think about the next shot and how I can get open." Dallas coach Rick Carlisle has spent 30 years in the NBA as a coach or player. Seeing Nowitzki join the top 10 NBA scorers is one of the few times he has been in awe of an accomplishment. "Hes an original. He is a generational player," Carlisle said. "Now most teams start a stretch four. Hes changed the game in so many ways. The kind of humility and dignity he does it with, it leaves you standing there in awe." Derrick Favors scored 19 points for the Jazz (24-54), who lost for the 18th time in their last 21 games. Reserve Enes Kanter added 15 points and 19 rebounds, and Richard Jefferson had 15 points. The Jazz outrebounded the Mavericks 47-36. They also enjoyed a 52-34 advantage in points in the paint and a 22-7 edge in second-chance points. Dallas overcame the disparity inside with a terrific shooting performance, including a 9-for-23 night from 3-point range. "We got defensive stops when we needed and we executed on the offensive end," Ellis said. The Jazz matched the Mavericks scoring pace early on. Utah made six straightt shots to open the first quarter. Michael Kors Outlet 85% OFF. Favours had three of those baskets, helping his team to an early 13-6 lead. The Jazz simply had no answer when the Mavericks had the ball. Dallas opened the game by making 17 of 18 shots. The Mavericks shot 94.1 per cent (16 of 17) from the floor in the first quarter alone. It helped Dallas grab control before the quarter was done. "They didnt seem like they were missing any shots in the first quarter," Jazz coach Tyrone Corbin said. "After that, we did a better job of staying closer to them." Samuel Dalembert made back-to-back baskets to tie the game and the Mavericks claimed a 20-18 lead on a Shawn Marion layup with 5:01 left. Dallas eventually made 16 straight baskets before finally missing a second shot. Wayne Ellington had a jumper on first possession of the second quarter, giving the Mavericks a 41-26 lead. "They just made shots," Jazz point guard Trey Burke said. "I dont think we just played awful defence. They hit open shots. Dirk hit shots. We expected him to make some tough shots, but they shot 94 per cent in the first quarter. I dont think it was a lot on our defence. They just made shots tonight." The Mavs never really cooled down before halftime. Dallas shot 70.3 per cent (26 of 37) from the field in the first half, preventing the Jazz from mounting any sort of big rally. Utah closed to 52-40 after Kanter made back-to-back baskets. Marion then scored on an alley-oop jam to stop the run. He and Ellis each scored a pair of baskets to boost the Dallas lead to 61-44 in the final minute before the break. The Jazz made one more attempt to climb back into the game early in the third quarter. Utah trimmed Dallas lead to 61-51 when Favours made a layup and Gordon Hayward drained a 3-pointer on back-to-back possessions. Dallas responded by scoring on four straight possessions - culminating with a three-point play by Nowitzki - to take a 70-55 lead. NOTES: Kanter registered his 21st double-double of the season. He is second on the team in that category behind Favours, who has 23. ...
