她是欢乐的幻像 She was a phantom of delight 
当第一次闪现在我眼前； When first she gleam'd upon my sight;
一个可爱的幽灵，A lovely apparition, sent
上天送来美化瞬间; To be a moment's ornament;
她的眼睛似美妙黄昏时的星辰；Her eyes as stars of twilight fair;
她深色的头发也宛如淡淡暮光; Like twilight's, too, her dusky hair;
但她身上的其他一切 But all things else about her drawn
透着五月的春光和欢乐的黎明;  From May-time and the cheerful dawn;
一个舞蹈造型，一个欢快的形象 A dancing shape, an image gay,
都会让人思念萦绕，震撼，心智迷乱。To haunt, to startle, and waylay.

我靠近些观察她， I saw her upon nearer view,
一个精灵，却又是一个女人! A Spirit, yet a Woman too!
她做家务的动作轻盈从容， Her household motions light and free,
清纯的步履无拘无束; And steps of virgin liberty;
一张记载着甜蜜，承诺着美好的脸; A countenance in which did meet Sweet records, promises as sweet;
一个对人类本能的每日膳食 A creature not too bright or good

赞美，责备，爱，亲吻，眼泪和笑容。Praise, blame, love, kisses, tears, and smiles
