Michael Schefold

2009, at the age of 22, she played Rach2 in Berkeley/Zellerbach Hall. Music critic Joshua Kosman wrote about this performance:

"She did it again in Berkeley's Zellerbach Hall on Sunday afternoon, appearing under us auspices of Cal Performances and giving a performance of Rachmaninoff's Second Piano Concerto so richly expressive and so technically dazzling that it seemed to set a new standard "

Now, fourteen years later she continues setting "new standards" playing pieces we should know note by note. But listening to her interpretations we hear every time notes, phrasing, pedaling we never heard before. "Yuja Wang can do things other pianists can't." (The Times).
