Just listened the audio book Bush At War during commuting to/from work. Very detailed recording of how Bush decided to go to war with Afghanistan and Iraq after 9-11. The two wars are still going on and most people have a negative opinion regarding those wars. It is easy to comment on the decisions based on the results, but in order to be fair to the person who made the decision, people need to know how and why the decision were made. This book gives a vivid and detailed account of how and why Bush made those decisions.

The book is based on the interviews with Bush and other principles of his cabinet and achieves of that time. From those you will know how the decisions were formed, discussed and decided in White House and who played what role in the process. You can make your own judgment on whether or not Bush and his cabinet made the right decision in sending U.S. into wars. But you have to pay attention to the environment and timing in/at which the decision was made. You can not judge something without context and 9-11 and the shock of it to the U.S. is the main context in which the decision was made.

The controversial for Bush’s decision to go into war with Afghanistan and Iraq are preemption, unilateralism and Bush’s sense of duty. This book can let you know more about Bush and his principles’’ wiew on those. It is really worthy reading/listening.
