After meeting Mengxu at Temecula Valley Balloon & Wine Festival on Saturday, I went to The 14th Annual Wings Over Gillespie Air Show on Sunday, wearing the animal print hat that I got at Temecula Festival.

This air show commemorated the 65th anniversary of D-Day and featured aerial attacks, dogfight re-enactments, more than 40 World War II aircrafts including bombers, fighter planes, military helicopters and more. Details(http://www.wingsovergillespie.org/welcome.htm).

This year, a youth educational day took place on Friday, June 5. Aviation experts gave students tours of the aircrafts on display and talked about aviation history. On Saturday, June 6 and Sunday, June 7 Wings Over Gillespie featured exciting air shows, live entertainment, a kids play area, more than 40 concession booths and VIP aircraft rides ($300 per person).

Thousands of people from around the San Diego region attended the event presented by Air Group One, the San Diego Wing of the Commemorative Air Force at the Gillespie Field in El Cajon, just 20 minutes east of downtown San Diego.

Tickets for the air show were $10 for adults 18 and over, $5 for children (10-17) and free for kids under 10. All
proceeds benefited The World War II Flying Museum at San Diego's Gillespie Field.

The folks that hosted the event and those in attendance were some of the friendliest people I've met. The skies during "Wings Over Gillespie Field" were filled with the sights and sounds of some spectacular WWII aircrafts!

This year's theme: "Salute to D-DAY", celebrating the 65th Anniversary of the D-Day Invasion at Normandy. This is my tribute to those involved in putting on a first class air show!
