S&P 500 Heat Map last Friday

Tough to find sunshine today as nearly every sector of the market got crushed. The only silver lining I see is in the utilities, a couple of healthcare plans and a lucky oil and gas play here and there. Aside from that there was really nowhere to run. It didn’t seem like too many places of the market were singled out though. This looked like an across the board sale on equities.

That tells me we may be seeing some great deals right around the corner. It also tells me that this thing could unwind quite a bit more before the carnage is over. It’s going to be hard to guess what happens over the next few weeks because we’re likely to see volume dry up a bit. Sometimes that leads to more volatility than expected.
