Stock Market Closing Prices - 12/29/09
Dow Jones Industrial Average ( DJIA ) Close – 10545.41 -1.67
Nasdaq Stock Market Close – 2288.40 -2.68
S&P 500 Close – 1126.19 -1.59
Commodities Closing Prices - 12/29/09
Gold Close – 1097.00
Oil Close – 78.93
Major indexes rose modestly in the early going but slipped as the dollar strengthened and tugged on commodities prices. A stronger dollar makes commodities more expensive for foreign buyers.
Volume was very thin as we approach the end of 2009. The next two days will be even worse as far as volume goes but could provide some nice momentum stocks.
