My daughter signed on collegeboard.com a couple of years ago so she could participate the SAT test. I had to co-sign something and my email address is on file as well. College Board sends out email called Official Question of the Day to her and cc to me every day. I like to answer it because I always think it is never too old to learn.
Today, I receive the following question of the day:
Wednesday, September 30
Read the following SAT test question, then click on a button to select your answer.
A group of workers can harvest all the grapes from 10 square meters of a vineyard in minute. At this rate, how many minutes will the group need to harvest all the grapes from 100 square meters of this vineyard?
A. 5 B. 10 C. 20 D. 50 E. 60
I think the answer is A but I also feel the question would be too easy to be true if the answer was A. I selected A anyway. Here is what I got after I clicked on A:
Since 100 square meters is 10 times 10 square meters, 10 times as much time is needed to harvest the grapes from the 100 square meters of vineyard. 10 × minute = , which equals 5 minutes.
I was like, wow, this is kind of question for people preparing for college?? What really surprised me more is the statistics next to the answer on the same page: only 70% of the answers are correct!
