Capitalization Rules （大写规则）
1. The first word in a sentence or question is capitalized. (v. 以大写字母写)
Every week I go to the movies.
Do you like to play tennis?
2. The pronoun（代名词）I is always capitalized.
Larry and I are brothers.
3. People’s formal正式的 and professional专业的 titles use capital letters.
Mr. and Mrs. Jenkins are on vacation.
Lisa saw Dr. Johansen at the bank yesterday.
4. Proper(特有的) names (specific people and places) use capital letters.
The Coliseum大剧院 in
Irene met her brother Don and his dog Skippy at the park.
5. Names of streets （街道）use capital letters.

8. Most words in titles of paragraphs段落, essays短文, and books are
capitalized (
capitalized, and the other important words in a title are capitalized.
Do not capitalize prepositions介词 (to, in), conjunctions连接词 (and,
but), or articles 冠词(a, an, the) unless they are the first word of the
title.

Proper Nouns (专有名词)
In English, the name of a specific person, or thing always begins with a
capital letter. These types of words are called proper(专有的) nouns. George Washington is the name of a specific person.
Incorrect: My friend john works in
Correct: My friend John works in

Common Nouns （普通名词）
Common nouns do not begin with a capital letter. They begin with a small letter. Some examples of common nouns are car, computer, garage, snow, television.
More Capital Letters （星期几、月份、语言、国家名称，要大写）
In English, many other kinds of words begin with capital letters. Here are some
examples.
Days of the week
Incorrect: My birthday is on monday.
Correct: My birthday is on Monday.
Months
Incorrect: The shortest month of the year is february.
Correct: The shortest month of the year is February.
Languages
Incorrect: Sireesha speaks hindi.(北印度语)
Correct: Sireesha speaks Hindi.
Countries
Incorrect: My father is from

Writer's NOTE:
Begin a Sentence with a Capital letter in English, there are two kinds of
letters: capital letter (H, R) and small letters (h, r). Most of the time we
use small letters. However, we always begin a sentence with a capital
letter.
