Pronounciation Tips of what my trainer told me......

Hi All,

I have been posting New Concept English for 12 days. It seems what trainer told me works. I am gonna share what she taught me and hope you can benefit from it as well. She is a well known professional accent reduction trainer ( which means high paid) in our city and her side job is a Jazz singer/artist.

Here is what she repeated all the time during my sessions:

1. Pronounce every vowel and consonant correctly by putting your tongue and lips at the right position. At first beginning, you must feel very weird to make those positions and sounds weird too. If you don't feel weird, you are not doing right :).

2.Speak as slowly as possible at the beginning to pronounce clearly for every vowel and consonant in a word. You don't need to worry about the meaning of the word, and intonation of the sentence. Just pronounce the word and stress clearly and correctly. We can only focus one thing at a time.

3. Consistently practice at least one hour daily for the first three months. Because you are on the process to build up your muscles of your mouth. I think reading the new concept is a grate idea. I spend one hour or one hour half to imitate the original record closely until my mouth is tired.

4. Analyze your recording and compare with the original one carefully. Pick up the differences and learn from the mistakes. My method is firstly word by word, and then sentence by sentence.

5. Really work on the difficult areas like v, w, th, r, weak last consonant, combine sounds like ai, ei, oi, au, ou....... You have to break the old habits ( which die hard) and create new good behaviors.

I may post some video I found online which is consistent with what my trainer told me.

I wish I could work harder when I was with her. But it never too late to start.

Good luck to everybody and let's day day up!

Thanks for reading.
