A Different Saturday

I'm normally unreachable via phone on Saturdays because I'd be roaming the mountains where cell signal is either sporadic or nonexistent. ( I do carry my satellite device Garmin InReach to stay in touch with family.)

This past Saturday was our summer commencement and it took place in the mid morning, cutting the day in half and making it impossible to plan for a big mountain trek. But the day turned out amazingly well. At 5:30am, I joined a group of sistas for a local hike and caught up with them. Made it back in time to get ready for the Commencment and afterwards I decided to go for a bike ride using what's left of the afternoon. I had wanted very much to do a long road ride connecting my local bike trail with the much longer Santa Ana River Trail. This would be a perfect time to do it. I planned the route and headed out.  At times I had to ride on the congested PCH to make it to the next leg of trail. I have all the safety lights but for road cycling, it was still way out of my comfort zone. But I'm quite glad I did it. Covering 8 cities, I totaled 66.7 miles. Next would be a century ride if I can find time to indulge it.
