I went to a company picnic today. Very big event, typical American type of fun, outdoors, loud, sunshine, pool, lousy food, stupid games...
Interestingly, I don't see a lot of racial harmony here even in the supposedly most racially harmonial place in America. People hang out with their same colors, and seems like European whites hang out with themselves and so do American whites. That reminded me of a company conference I went to in Europe, where Brits prefer to hang out with Frenches and Spaniards rather than the Americans, even though they look alike and speak the same languages, which is also the case in the offices, albeit to a lesser degree. And more interestingly, inter-racial couples hang out with other inter-racial couples. There are 4-5 of them.
Young kids do seem to be more racially blind. They mingle.
