"This is none of your business"
"Just adjust this a bit... and that a liule. Then I click that button...
DONE!!!" I yelled. I stood back to admire my masterpiece... "What on earth
do you think your doing??? What was that yelling for; it was cracking my
darn eardrums!" I snapped back from my semi-conscience trance. My sister
was peering with curiosity at the screen. She turned around to find me
staring at her with my "This is none of your business" eye. "What is this,"
she asked simply. "None of your business," I replied while moving quickly
to turn off the monitor. "O yes it is, since you decided to suddenly scream
and give me a heart afrack," she said in her "as a mater of fact" accent.
"fJm... the screen um.. . froze," I tried. "Lame," she said simply. "You
know I'm not that stupid," she added. My mind raced like a gazelle with a
cheetah on his pursuit to create another excuse... no light bulb.
I said the first thing that came to my mind (and stupidest thing that
came in my mind) "I um... found it that way," I tried. My sister eyed me
with suspicion from head to toe, searching for any sine of a hidden lie. I
fought hard to keep my face neutral and hide my excitement and the
triumphant look off my face. Sweat poured down my face as I anxiously
awaited her response. "I'm watching you...," she said finally after what
seemed to be an hour. I sighed with relief as she turned around and carefully
watched me suspiciously as she slowly left the room.
I wasn't surprised to find the taste of fresh blood in my mouth after
biting my lip as hard as I could. I took a slow step... "Ahhhhhhh" I yelled as
I fell off my feet and hit the hard, cold, wooden floor. I had sat for there so
long my feet went completely numb and it felt as if I had two left legs. My
head felt so dizzy I couldn't tell my left from my right. I stretched out my
arrns and yawned for what seemed like a long time. Suddenly pain shot
through me like a bullet as I extended my arms. The typing had made my
whole wrist sore and turned my fingers into jelly.
I reopened the monitor, saved my work, and closed it. The last thing I
wanted to happen was for my sister to get curious and get on my work and
change or even delete every thing. I then logged off my user and shut down
the computer. The computer whined and the monitor flickered and died out.
I wasn't prepared to redo every detail on my work because I could barely
even feel my fingers.
I slowly walked up the stairs to my bedroom, careful not to trip over
anything. I approached my bed room with a big grin on my face. My sister
was in the game room upstairs and spotted me. "I see that look on your
face," she said. "What," I asked with an innocent look printed on my face. "I
call it your birthday face. You always have that look on your face when
you're happy or excited about something," she said. She stared at me for a
while and then turned away. When I entered my bedroom, my first
movement was to flop on my bed. As I lay there I thought about all the
exciting and wonderful experiences in my life: riding roller coasters, playing
the Wii, and when it's my birthday, but none of them were as exciting as this
one... I had created my first very own video game!
