Hi everyone,
USCIS recently returned my original Form I-693 medical examination because my TB test results were not documented appropriately. The Form I-693 indicates that my reaction to the TB skin test was 5mm or greater, however there is no indication that I had a chest X-ray. It turned out that my original civil surgeon messed up and did not order an X-ray for me. I have since moved to a different city. So I went to see another civil surgeon.
According the letter from USCIS, the civil surgeon should give me a chest X-ray. The letter also includes this instruction: The civil surgeon should also refer you to your local health department for further evaluation to determine whether you have clinically active TB and if so, whether it is infectious. The Form I-693 must be properly endorsed by the civil surgeon to reflect all of the following: 1) The date you were referred to the local health department for further evaluation, 2) The name, address and telephone number of the local health department, 3) The results of the X-ray and any other diagnostic tests for TB, and 4) The basis upon which you have been medically cleared for adjustment of status.
The doctor ordered a chest X-ray for me, but he would not refer me to a government health department for further evaluation. He said that he refers people to the county health department for further evaluation only if they demonstrate evidence of clinically active TB. He said that I have no sign of that and therefore do not need to be further evaluated. He assured me that the immigration officer will accept his evaluation. However, the USCIS letter clearly states that he SHOULD refer me to the health department and that he MUST document the date of the referral and contact information of the health department.
I am in a bit of a dilemma here. Should I believe the civil surgeon and skip the health department or should I insist on getting the referral?
Did anyone receive a similar letter from USCIS and can speak from their experience? Please reply using either Chinese or English. I am posting in English because I am terribly slow in typing in Chinese.
