【音乐介绍】Academy Award-winning composer James Horner has died. Horner’s plane crashed at 9:30am Monday, 100 miles northwest of Los Angeles. All of us should put aside some time to listen to and reflect upon Horner’s acclaimed music catalogue.
Horner’s most recognizable piece of work is the score to James Cameron’s Titanic (1997). Because of the enormous success of the film and Horner’s song “My Heart Will Go On”, sung by Celine Dion, the soundtrack topped the charts and sold over 30 million copies, becoming one of the best selling albums of all time and garnering Horner two Academy Awards. A selection of Horner’s other works include "Apollo 13","Field of Dreams","Braveheart","Avatar" and "A Beautiful Mind"..
James Horner's score for James Cameron's epic romance Titanic is much like the film itself — against all expectations, it delivers exactly what it promises. His score is grand, without falling into typical melodrama, and delicately romantic, without being sickly sentimental; it offers genuine emotion and excitement, with the haunting vocals of Norwegian singer Sissel providing a nice counterpoint to Horner's blend of strings, vocals, orchestras, and synthesizers. Celine Dion's "My Heart Will Go On" may feel a little like an afterthought, especially after experiencing Horner's wrenching, but its heart is in the right place. Nevertheless, it is Horner's instrumental work and its whirlwind of emotions that makes the score of Titanic a voyage worth repeating.
James Horner’s music will not be forgotten. His music will forever live on.. it’s been timeless since its inception..
