Singing in the Rain - Gene Kelly

(2007-07-29 18:07:31) 下一个

Doo-dloo-doo-doo-doo
Doo-dloo-doo-doo-doo-doo
Doo-dloo-doo-doo-doo-doo
Doo-dloo-doo-doo-doo-doo...

I'm singing in the rain
Just singing in the rain
What a glorious feelin'
I'm happy again
I'm laughing at clouds
So dark up above
The sun's in my heart
And I'm ready for love
Let the stormy clouds chase
Everyone from the place
Come on with the rain
I've a smile on my face
I walk down the lane
With a happy refrain
Just singin',
Singin' in the rain

Dancin' in the rain
Dee-ah dee-ah dee-ah
Dee-ah dee-ah dee-ah
I'm happy again!
I'm singin' and dancin' in the rain!

I'm dancin' and singin' in the rain...
[ADDITIONAL VERSE]
Why am I smiling
And why do I sing?
Why does September
Seem sunny as spring?
Why do I get up
Each morning and start?
Happy and head up
With joy in my heart
Why is each new task
A trifle to do?
Because I am living
A life full of you.

Singin' in the Rain (song)

"Singin' in the Rain" is a song with lyrics by Arthur Freed and music by Nacio Herb Brown, published in 1929. However, it is unclear exactly when the song was written with some claiming that the song was performed as early as 1927. The song was listed as Number 3 on AFI's 100 Years... 100 Songs.

The song became a hit and was recorded by a number of artists, notably Cliff Edwards, who also performed the number in the early musical sound film The Hollywood Revue of 1929. It was also performed on film by Jimmy Durante and Judy Garland.

The song is probably best known today as the centerpiece of the 1952 musical film Singin' in the Rain, in which Gene Kelly memorably danced to the song while splashing through puddles during a rainstorm.

The song was subsequently featured in Stanley Kubrick's film A Clockwork Orange, which the protagonist sang while raping a young woman.

In the 80's, German Pop singer Taco scored a hit with it. Though it failed to crack the US Top 100 or the UK Top 40, it reached #46 in the Canadian Charts on August 27, 1983

British jazz/pop singer Jamie Cullum covered the song on his 2003 album Twentysomething.

The song was also remixed by Mint Royale, released on 22nd August 2005 after a smaller version featured in the new Volkswagen Golf GTI advert.
