December’s Rose

Words and Music by Michael Coghlan

There is a flower growing,

Sprung from December’s snow.

The prophet’s dream now blossoms,

While frosty winds do blow.

There is a mother loving,

A maiden pure as snow.

Cradles a wee small baby,

While frosty winds do blow.

That truth wins over reason,

This single bud will snow.

Rose growing out of season,

Love in mid-winter’s snow.

There is a baby dreaming,

Joy sprung of maiden’s love.

Lost in a world of slumber,

While angels watch above.

That light wins over darkness,

A mother’s love does know.

Rose growing out of season,

Love in mid-winter’s snow.
