X档案，是调查局的一个部门，那里面贮存着几十年来遇到的无法解释的超自然现象案件……
特别探员Fox Mulder在牛津大学修完心理学后，被调查局雇用，事业正一帆风顺时，他却突然将全部精力转向了超自然事件。在一次催眠中，他回忆到自己失踪多年的妹妹Samantha在他们还是孩童的时候被一种未知的力量带走，自此，他对于X档案中所隐藏真相的追寻着了迷，开始了全身心的调查工作。
特别探员Dana Scully不但是一个具备专业技能医学博士，还是一个认为在每一个X-File案件背后，都会有一个合理的科学解释的坚定理性主义者。然而在X-Files工作的过程中，她看到了许多无论科学或是逻辑都解释不通的事情，她的信仰受到了考验，她渐渐开始相信外星生命的存在。

探员丹娜-斯嘉丽(Dana Scully)
特别探员丹娜-斯嘉丽不但是一个具备专业技能医学博士，同时也是一个认为在每一个X档案背后，都会有一个合理的科学解释的坚定的理性主义者。然而在X档案工作的过程中，她看到了许多无论科学或是逻辑都解释不通的事情，使她的信仰受到了考验，她渐渐开始相信外星生命存在的事实。
幕后黑手老烟鬼(Cancerman)
老烟鬼代表着在隐秘之处操纵国家的那一小撮人，许多改变历史的事情都与这群人有关(比如老烟鬼年轻时曾刺杀了肯尼迪总统)，他是莫德的主要对头之一，此人神秘莫测，没有名字，由于他手里永远夹着一支烟，于是人人都称他为老烟鬼，而过多的吸烟使他得了肺癌，后来他的名字就索性被叫成“癌人”了。
探员福克斯-莫德(Fox Mulder)

局长助理斯坎勒(Skinner)
身为前海军陆战队队员的调查局局长助理沃尔特-斯坎勒具有很强的责任感，有时对莫德没完没了的古怪调查会失去一些耐心。他曾经不止一次警告莫德和斯嘉丽，称他们调查的范围已扩大到危险的程度。他也曾被迫关闭了X档案，但是后来在自己的职权范围以内又将其重开。

第一季简介
九三年九月二十世纪福克斯首播X文件，首集于当年春天开始拍摄。内容为联邦调查局特别探员史卡利被调入和另一特别探员穆德一同办理X文件。穆德应其妹莎蔓莎幼年失踪，怀疑是被外星人绑架而对研究外星人产生兴趣，联邦调查局当局希望藉史卡利的科学观点把穆德拉回主流。结果是，史卡利也陷入X文件中而不能自拔。本季内容除了外星人，还有不可解释的自然现象、基因突变的怪兽、古老的咒语与传说。本季结束于深喉咙被射杀，X文件被终结。

第二季簡介
本季始於X檔案被終結，穆德與史卡利分別被派給不同的任務，但穆德仍時時注意任何有關X檔案的案件，並常找史卡利幫忙。由於演員姬蓮安德森懷孕，製作人將劇情發展成史卡利被外星人綁架，消失了一陣子。當然，那時候我們的姬蓮安德森跑去醫院生產啦。在不斷的尋找下，史卡利奇蹟似的被送回到一家醫院，自此以後，X檔案進入一新階段。這季主要仍圍著不可解釋的自然現象及外星人打轉，結束於穆德的父親被暗殺身亡，穆德千里迢迢到新墨西哥尋找證據。

第四季簡介
到這季開始時，X檔案已是家喻戶曉的科幻影集了。雖然仍被某些人認為太過偏激，但在金球獎艾美獎紛紛獲得肯定。今年仍是一貫過去的風格，但加入了許多穆德、史卡利個別的個人生活。穆德的另一資料來源–X在今年死亡。另外一重大發展則是史卡利發現自己患有癌症，住院治療，病情雖穩定住，但仍有危險。本季也介紹了癌人的年輕時代，向觀眾交待他的歷史。本季也包括了一集喜劇，相信看過的朋友都知道。本季結束於穆德在從阿拉斯加調查回來後對生命厭倦，而舉槍自殺。

自殺！？當然不可能啦。經過一暑假漫長的等待，原來穆德和史卡利串通好來騙癌人等人，以等待及發現新證據。本季發展越來越精彩，史卡利被綁架時子宮被移除，但今年卻出現了她的小孩–艾蜜莉。今年製作小組甚至找了兩位知名科幻小說家操筆，客串寫出兩集劇本。另外今年也有一集喜劇。整齣X檔案為了配合電影的上映，加入了一些角色及內容，癌人的集團陰?#092;越來越明顯，穆德再一次接近事實的真相。穆德前女友的出現也對穆德與史卡利間的關係做出重大考驗。今年結束於癌人燒毀了X檔案位於地下室的辦公室。

第八季簡介
穆德失踪后，史考莉返回FBI总部请约翰·道吉特探员帮忙寻找她的搭档，但无任何结果。于是，她与史基勒一起找到了孤枪侠，希望能够发现穆德失踪时UFO的活动情况以从中找到线索。经过一番调查，他们发现了一个名叫吉布森·佩雷茨的人，但此人身边那个酷似穆德的家伙实际上只是境外的一个赏金猎手。鉴于无法找到穆德，FBI决定让道吉特探员正式接手X档案，而此时的史考莉在与穆德共事多年后也已相信X档案中一系列“灵异事件”的真实性，于是她开始了与一个新的“怀疑论”者——约翰·道吉特的合作之旅……

幕后黑手老烟鬼(Cancerman)
老烟鬼代表着在隐秘之处操纵国家的那一小撮人，许多改变历史的事情都与这群人有关(比如老烟鬼年轻时曾刺杀了肯尼迪总统)，他是莫德的主要对头之一，此人神秘莫测，没有名字，由于他手里永远夹着一支烟，于是人人都称他为老烟鬼，而过多的吸烟使他得了肺癌，后来他的名字就索性被叫成“癌人”了。

身为前海军陆战队队员的调查局局长助理沃尔特-斯坎勒具有很强的责任感，有时对莫德没完没了的古怪调查会失去一些耐心。他曾经不止一次警告莫德和斯嘉丽，称他们调查的范围已扩大到危险的程度。他也曾被迫关闭了X档案，但是后来在自己的职权范围以内又将其重开。

第一季简介
九三年九月二十世纪福克斯首播X文件，首集于当年春天开始拍摄。内容为联邦调查局特别探员史卡利被调入和另一特别探员穆德一同办理X文件。穆德应其妹莎蔓莎幼年失踪，怀疑是被外星人绑架而对研究外星人产生兴趣，联邦调查局当局希望藉史卡利的科学观点把穆德拉回主流。结果是，史卡利也陷入X文件中而不能自拔。本季内容除了外星人，还有不可解释的自然现象、基因突变的怪兽、古老的咒语与传说。本季结束于深喉咙被射杀，X文件被终结。

本季始於X檔案被終結，穆德與史卡利分別被派給不同的任務，但穆德仍時時注意任何有關X檔案的案件，並常找史卡利幫忙。由於演員姬蓮安德森懷孕，製作人將劇情發展成史卡利被外星人綁架，消失了一陣子。當然，那時候我們的姬蓮安德森跑去醫院生產啦。在不斷的尋找下，史卡利奇蹟似的被送回到一家醫院，自此以後，X檔案進入一新階段。這季主要仍圍著不可解釋的自然現象及外星人打轉，結束於穆德的父親被暗殺身亡，穆德千里迢迢到新墨西哥尋找證據。

到這季開始時，X檔案已是家喻戶曉的科幻影集了。雖然仍被某些人認為太過偏激，但在金球獎艾美獎紛紛獲得肯定。今年仍是一貫過去的風格，但加入了許多穆德、史卡利個別的個人生活。穆德的另一資料來源–X在今年死亡。另外一重大發展則是史卡利發現自己患有癌症，住院治療，病情雖穩定住，但仍有危險。本季也介紹了癌人的年輕時代，向觀眾交待他的歷史。本季也包括了一集喜劇，相信看過的朋友都知道。本季結束於穆德在從阿拉斯加調查回來後對生命厭倦，而舉槍自殺。

自殺！？當然不可能啦。經過一暑假漫長的等待，原來穆德和史卡利串通好來騙癌人等人，以等待及發現新證據。本季發展越來越精彩，史卡利被綁架時子宮被移除，但今年卻出現了她的小孩–艾蜜莉。今年製作小組甚至找了兩位知名科幻小說家操筆，客串寫出兩集劇本。另外今年也有一集喜劇。整齣X檔案為了配合電影的上映，加入了一些角色及內容，癌人的集團陰?#092;越來越明顯，穆德再一次接近事實的真相。穆德前女友的出現也對穆德與史卡利間的關係做出重大考驗。今年結束於癌人燒毀了X檔案位於地下室的辦公室。
