Fugitive ends up in gator\'s jaws

A MAN who jumped into a Florida lake to escape police has been found dead with alligator bite marks on his torso, police said today.
While it is yet to be determined that the man was killed by an alligator, a suspected 2m long reptile culprit has been identified and killed, newswire AP reports.
A coroner will examine the alligator - currently being kept in cold storage - for evidence it may have mauled the man.
Police divers recovered the man\'s body from a lake, which had a warning sign: Danger Live Alligators.
The name of the dead man has not been released but he allegedly was caught by police trying to break into a parked car at the Miccosukee Resort and Convention Centre west of Miami, before fleeing on foot last week.
The resort is part of the reservation for American Indian Miccosukee tribe.
