3. In Canada roughly 25% of the Canadian population is overweight while approximately 11% is obese.
4. In the United Kingdom, 24% of adult females are overweight and 12% of adult females are obese.
5. In the United States 55% of the female population are overweight and more than 30% of the female population are obese.

When I was in Italy, I was so impressed that they are in such good shape. Occasionally, I could see a few over weighted ones, but when I got close, I could hear they spoke in American English.

I know what you mean NYTalker. Since these data are published officially by the World Health Organization, I hope they have big enough sample base and diversity. Also, I think the standard should be different for different races, due to the bone structure and weight can make difference.
I guess it also serves us as an alert: don't live the way average Americans do.
