【劇情介紹】：
法庭檢控主任唐志高，於裁判法院負責檢控工作，處理一般性的隨地吐痰、亂拋垃圾、違例駕駛等瑣碎案件，不過，志高胸懷大志，已申請調職政府律師，期望可以一展抱負，處理嚴重刑事大案，伸張正義。志高父親唐大海對他十分支持，經常出席旁聽志高負責的案件，大海望子成龍，亦希望有朝一日，可以在區域法院，甚或高等法院，看見志高處理大案。　
一日，大海因為賭馬大有斬獲，大宴親朋，誰知到頭來空歡喜一場，原來大海並非沿正途落注馬會，而是在非法外圍落注，原本欲以贏來的錢償還大耳窿的欠債，因為艇仔走數令大海好夢成空。大海被大耳窿追債時為志高撞破，揭發了大海因賭外圍‘篤手指’而輸盡退休金的事。志高向大海痛陳買外圍不當之餘，也動用了本擬買樓的積蓄為父填債，並向後母何美妍和異母異父的妹妹芷敏隱瞞真相。大海痛失兒子血汗錢，決心戒賭，甚至腳傷也改為光顧賽馬會診所，希望省吃儉用，盡量減輕兒子的負擔。
