Itinerary: Osaka -> Kyoto -> Tokyo
One benefit of being a U.S. citizen is that I can travel to many countries without a visa. So immediately after my oath ceremony, I got myself a U.S. passport, and planned my very first Japan vacation. Why go to Japan now that US dollar is weak against Japanese Yen? Because my brother and his family live there, and I haven't seen my sister-in-law and my niece for twelve years. My niece was a tiny little thing the last time I saw her, now she is almost as tall as me.
Considering everyone's availability, our itinerary ended up:
Day 1/2: Travel to Osaka
Day 3: Take a day trip to Himeji Castle
Day 4 - 7: Visit Kyoto, Nara areas
Day 8 - 11: Visit Tokyo (where my brother lives) and nearby areas
Day 12: Coming home
