We make pizza at home sometimes. It doesn't save us any money, and it is a lot of work (compare to ordering it), but it tastes better. Our homemade pizza normally has oregano (dash), pepperoni (3.5 oz), garlic (2 cloves, finely chopped), onion (1/3 cup, chopped), hot Italian sausage (1 lb, cooked and drained), mushroom (6 oz, sliced) and cheese (8 oz) on it.
1. Before baking.
To bake it, preheat oven to 425F. Bake the pizza for 10 - 15 minutes, or until crust is crispy as desired.
2. After baking.
For pizza dough, I either buy it at Papa Murphy's ($1) / Trader Joe's ($1) / Marsh ($2), or make my own using my bread machine. It is really easy. The ingredients below are all I need. It takes 1 hour and 40 minutes to finish the dough cycle. After that, I normally shape the dough into size, and let it sit for another 30 minutes, before adding the toppings. This way the dough will rise nicely during baking.
Ingredients:
9 oz warm water (hot water in winter)
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons sugar
1 tablespoon olive oil
3 cups bread flour
1 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
Tip: We use parchment paper on top of the pizza peel, it makes the transfer from pizza peel to pizza stone so much easy.
