The February 2006 bulletin illustrates significant movement in several of the employment based visa categories. Specifically, there has been a change of one year in the priority date for Employment based first preference category for Chinese nationals—the priority date has moved from January 1, 2002 to January 1, 2003 . Indian nationals in the Employment based first preference category have moved from July 1, 2003 to February 1, 2004 . In the Employment based second preference category, there was a change of approximately 10 months. In the second preference category, the priority date for Chinese nationals moved from June 1 2001 to April 1, 2002 . For Indian nationals, the preference category has moved from January 1, 2001 to August 1, 2001 . Unfortunately, time is still moving slowly for beneficiaries of the Employment based third preference category. There range of movement is only from a few weeks, for those beneficiaries from countries other than China , India , Mexico and the Philippines , to a few months for Indian nationals. Please review the chart below to see what priority dates are current. Please remember that if you are a beneficiary of a Labor Certification, your priority date is determined by the date that your employer filed the Labor Certification on your behalf (or on behalf of the original employee, in cases of substitution).
