Survey Also Finds Growing Concern that Anti-Virus Protection
is Not Enough
CAMBRIDGE, Mass.—July 12, 2006—Protecting your organization from user-downloaded software, often invisible to IT, begins with getting serious about creating and enforcing policies for non-business application usage within the company. The results of The Enterprise Security and Application Control Survey, released today, found that more than one-third of companies surveyed (34%) do not have a policy in place that forbids downloading non-business applications on company-owned computers. Often running outside of IT's knowledge or control, non-business applications such as instant messaging (IM) programs or media players run undetected by IT organizations and are difficult to detect and remove.
