一生未曾睹， I think that I shall never see
诗美如此树。 A poem as lovely as a tree.

静静承风露， A tree whose hungry mouth is prest
殷殷匝地乳。 Against the earth's sweet flowing breast;

秋叶映红日， A tree that looks at God all day,
栩栩祈天主。 And lifts her leafy arms to pray;

夏枝浓青丝， A tree that may in Summer wear
啾啾戴鸟宿。 A nest of robins in her hair;

冬雪胸上卧， Upon whose bosom snow has lain;
春雨身旁驻。 Who intimately lives with rain.

诗可吾愚作， Poems are made by fools like me,
树乃神天赋！ But only God can make a tree.
